what is difference between switch and circuit breaker
switch
~A switch is used to close a circuit with a low current flowing through it.
~ The switch is not used to break the current fault current i.e. is useful only in healthy simulations. The operation of the switch is manual.
~ The voltage level is low.
~ The design is simple and straightforward.
~ Less maintenance required.
~ Occupies less space.
~ There are usually indoor types.
~ Is less expensive.
circuit breaker
~ In which a circuit breaker is used to break a circuit where the current value is much higher.
~ Useful for circuit breakers even when there is a fault in the circuit I.e. also useful in fault condition.
~ The operation of circuit breaker is manual as well as automatic.
~ The trip coil is operated through the protection relay and turns the breaker off.
~ Made for high and extra high voltage rating from normal voltage level.
~ The design is confusing and made for extra high voltage rating.
~ Regular maintenance is required. Occupies more space.
~ Depending on the rating and type, there are both outdoor and indoor types. Incredibly expensive.
