*INSULATION CO-ORDINATION *
~Power systems have equipment operating at different voltage levels and each has a different voltage with stand level.
~ There are different types of protective equipment to provide protection against over voltage.
~ All of this needs to be coordinated. This is called emulation coordination. The following issues are looked at in Isolation Co-ordination?
1.To study the possibility of over voltage coming from lightning or any other way.
2 Use of appropriate protective device against over voltage surge.
3. Keep the protective device in the system in such a way that the protection is not damaged.
~To do this, the insulation strength of lines, switch gears, transformers, machines, etc.,
~and the characteristic of protective devices such as road gap, lightning arrester, are properly coordinated.
~ Thus the ability of equipment to withstand voltage impulses and to properly coordinate the protection characteristic of a surge arrester is called insulation coordination.
~ contains an equipment that is protected against overvoltage by means of a lightning arrester.
~ the emulation characteristic of protective devices and equipment.
~ The characteristic curve of the protective device is decimal from Q.
~While the characteristic curve of the equipment is decimal from P.
~ From the characteristic it is known that the characteristic of the emulation of the equipment is much higher than the characteristic of the protective device.
~ This means that when the overvoltage occurs, the lightning arrester will spark over at a voltage lower than the tolerable voltage level of the equipment. .
